Choose a programme that really allows work-study
Check the schedule, the CFA and how the school supports you. A work-study contract is never guaranteed.
How to do it
A work-study placement is never guaranteed: choose a programme you can also follow, and pay for, without a contract.
- 1Check that the programme is really offered as work-study (apprentissage or professionnalisation), and not only as a standard programme.
- 2Ask for the work-study schedule (how time is split between school and company) and the name of the apprentice training centre (CFA) running the programme.
- 3Check that the diploma is recognised by the State and, if you want to sign as soon as you arrive, that it leads to the grade de master or to a diploma accredited by the Conférence des grandes écoles (see P1).
- 4Ask the school how it helps students find a company: job offers shared, company contacts, follow-up.
- 5Ask what happens if you do not find a company: can you follow the same programme without a contract, and at what cost?
What you need
- The list of programmes you are targeting
- The description of each programme (schedule, CFA, diploma awarded)
Tips
- Ask the school your questions in writing and keep the answers: they will also help you with your study project.
- No school can guarantee you a work-study placement: the company signs the contract with you, not the school.
