How to do it
You leave with a student visa: as long as no contract is signed, it is your own funds, of at least 877.5 euros per month, that count for the visa.
- 1Apply on Études en France as you would for a standard programme: applications to an apprenticeship programme go through this platform, before the visa application.
- 2In your study project, explain why you chose work-study: the job you are aiming for, the link with your background, what you have already done to find a company.
- 3Show that you know the rules: student visa, the first-arrival rule (P1), and what you will do if you do not find a company (P6).
- 4At the Campus France interview, present your project the same way, with the same arguments as in your application.
- 5Prepare your proof of funds as for a standard programme, without counting on a future work-study salary.
What you need
- The admission certificate for the work-study programme (as soon as you have it)
- Your written study project
- Your proof of funds
- The list of your first applications to companies
Tips
- Stay consistent: a project that relies only on a work-study salary looks fragile.
- Keep a record of your efforts (applications sent, replies received): it shows your project is serious.
